Why buy a boat if you end up abandoning it


Many people have this dream of owning a boat. Whether it is for taking it out finishing or just going out sailing, exploring Vancouver Island’s wild west coast. But they aren't taking into consideration what it takes to take care of a boat, the expenses of insurance, winter storage, maintenance, taxes, dock fees etc. What ends up happening is that people are abandoning their boat. Those people create an environmental and navigational hazard. Abandoned or derelict boats may wash ashore or sink, releasing fuel or toxins which put marine life and habitat at risk. There are ways to remove and dispose of boats. So before you just give up on your boat, look into the different programs there are to get rid of your boat. Better yet, before you buy and a boat (new or used), make sure you can take care of it.
